Yes, another bagel spot, but trust us, this one’s worth it too. Grumpy Bagels has such a fun vibe, and their bagels come with creative local twists (think matcha, mochi, or unique cream cheese flavours you won’t find anywhere else). It’s one of those places people happily queue for, and once you take a bite you’ll get why.

LOKL feels like that friendly neighbourhood café you wish was downstairs from your apartment. Great coffee, hearty brunch plates, and staff who actually make you feel welcome (a rarity sometimes).

Right in the middle of Bukit Bintang, Feeka is one of those cafés you can’t help but linger in. Set inside a converted house with lots of natural light, it’s airy, relaxed, and serves some of the best coffee around. Perfect for a slow morning before diving back into the buzz of the city.

5. House of Wheat, Chow Kit ($$)
Located in Chow Kit, our favourite neighbourhood to stay in KL, House of Wheat is a bit of a trendy spot among locals, so don’t be surprised if you have to queue on weekends. Their sourdough and hearty brunch plates are worth the wait though, and the cozy, stylish setting makes it easy to lose track of time once you’re inside.

6. Tapestry | Chow Kit ($$)
Also located in Chow Kit, Tapestry gives off fancy European vibes with beautifully plated dishes and a modern, light-filled space. It’s a brunch spot that feels a little elevated, and we honestly wished we’d had the chance to come back and try their dinner menu too.

7. KLCG Confectionery & Bakery, Jalan Ampang ($$)
For pastry lovers, KLCG on Jalan Ampang is a dream. From buttery croissants to picture-perfect cakes, everything looks (and tastes) like it belongs in a fancy Parisian bakery. It’s impossible to leave with just one thing and you’ll almost definitely end up taking a box to go.
8. Stellar Coffee ($$)
Stellar Coffee is tucked inside REXKL (a cultural centre in the heart of Chinatown), and the vibe here is industrial-chic meets artsy hangout. Great coffee, cool crowd, and plenty of corners to take pictures of. Oh, and while you’re there, stop at Summation for a sandwich. Coffee in one hand, sandwich in the other = perfect balance, right?
9. Bean Brothers at The Linc KL ($$)
Bean Brothers at The Linc KL was the perfect spot for a full and productive working day. The café spans two spacious levels, offering plenty of seating and a calm, open atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in for hours. It is quiet, comfortable, and ideal for digital nomads or anyone looking for a relaxed brunch with great vibes. The food is genuinely good, the coffee is consistently solid, and the bright, airy design makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.
10. Niko Neko Matcha 2.0 ($$)
This is the place for matcha fans. Sleek, minimalist, and very Instagram-approved. Everything is matcha-focused, from creamy lattes to more experimental drinks. Even if you’re not a big matcha person, it’s kind of impossible not to get converted here, consider yourself warned.
RESTAURANTS
11. Jalan Alor Food Street ($-$$)
If there’s one place you can’t miss for the ultimate KL street food experience, it’s Jalan Alor. This lively strip in Bukit Bintang comes alive at night with endless stalls serving everything from satay skewers and grilled seafood to noodles and tropical fruit desserts. It’s busy, chaotic, and a little touristy, but that’s part of the fun and the energy here is what makes it special.
Restoran San Woo
12. FWF Hotpot @ Fahrenheit ($$-$$$)
Sometimes nothing hits the spot like a bubbling hotpot, and FWF at Fahrenheit is a favourite. Pick your broth, pile on fresh veggies, meats, and seafood, and take your time cooking everything just the way you like it. It’s a cozy, social kind of meal, perfect for a long dinner where you linger and chat while the pot does its magic.
13. ramen restaurants|Menya Appare 麵屋 天晴-mid valley ($$)
This spot has officially stolen the crown as our favourite ramen ever, and that’s saying something because we had a go-to place in Berlin for years. The broths here are rich and flavourful, the noodles have the perfect bite, and every bowl just feels like comfort in its purest form.
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen
14. Malai Thai Cuisine ($$)
When you’re in the mood for Thai food, Malai is a solid pick. The menu covers all the classics with fragrant green curry, spicy tom yum, and plenty of stir-fried dishes. Portions are generous, flavours are bold, and the setting makes it a nice option whether you’re going casual or a bit dressed up.
Pad Thai
15. Madam Kwan’s ($$)
A KL institution, Madam Kwan’s is where you go for Malaysian comfort food in a polished setting. Their nasi lemak is legendary, and the menu covers everything from curries to noodles to satay. Being inside Suria Mall makes it super convenient if you’re visiting the Petronas Towers or shopping nearby, but they also have other locations.
16. Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant ($$)
We are obsessed with dim sum and we try to have it in every big city (like Bangkok or Singapore) and this one goes to the top of the list. Located inside the Concorde Hotel, Xin Cuisine has all the Cantonese classics: think steaming baskets of dumplings, char siu buns, and any dim sum dish you can think of. The setting feels a little more traditional and elegant, making it a lovely spot for a long brunch.
17. Restoran Mon Chinese Beef Roti ($)
This spot is always packed, with people queuing all day for their famous hand-pulled roti. You can order it with chicken or beef, and honestly both are so good. Adelina swears by the chicken while Anthony’s all about the beef, so try both and let us know which team you’re on. Cheap, filling, and ridiculously tasty.
BARS
18. Satellite Restaurant & Bar (Imperial Lexis KL)
We were on the hunt for the best view of the Petronas Towers and this spot really delivered. Arrive about 30 minutes before the sun goes down and you’ll see the towers first glow in gold and then light up against the night sky. The cocktails are well done, the service is warm, and the atmosphere leans fancy without being stiff. If you can, reserve a table on the front row outside. It makes all the difference.
